Lady Cyclone bats secure revenge over Sullivan East

Earlier in the season, the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones took a loss on the softball diamond that maybe they weren’t expecting. Sullivan East handed the Cyclones their first loss of the conference season and Tuesday night, the Cyclones were looking for revenge.
That was exactly what the Lady Cyclones did with a big win, 11-1.
The Cyclones looked like they were primed to get on the board first in frame number one with a walk and a Maddie O’Quinn single, but the Patriots dug in and weaseled their way out of the issue.
Sullivan East would strike first in the top of the second with an RBI single.
Leading 1-0 heading into the third, a couple of errors from the Patriots set the Cyclones up with a serious chance at some runs. With Bailee VanHuss and Maely Ingram on base, a sacrifice bunt from Ember Jensen put both ladies in scoring position.
Maddie O’Quinn brought both girls across the plate with a single into right giving the Cyclones a 2-1 lead.
The inning would continue with Mollie Johnson reaching base on an error scoring another run. Cheyenne Poiroux knocked in another run before a wild pitch secured a fifth run on the inning as the Cyclones led 5-1 after three.
The fourth inning meant another run for the Cyclones while Madisun Pritchard continued to shut down the Patriots.
A scoreless fifth inning set up a monster sixth for Elizabethton.
A series of a walk and two errors loaded the bases for the Cyclones. After Kenidy Harris was hit by a pitch to score a run, Madisun Pritchard knocked in a run on an infield hit making it 8-1.
A wild pitch scored another run setting up Johnson to knock in two more runs to close the game on run rule, 11-1.
The Cyclones improve to 10-5 (3-1) on the season and travel to Volunteer on Thursday.
