A warm Monday afternoon turned to a chilly evening in Elizabethton for a matchup between the Lady Cyclones of Elizabethton and the Lady Warriors of Happy Valley. A tight contest through two innings flipped on its head once the Cyclones figured out their bats as they would run-rule the Warriors, 11-0.
In the first inning and a half, the pitchers controlled the game with the first run popping up in the bottom of the second. Mollie Johnson took a base after being hit by a pitch. Next Cheyenne Poiroux slapped a stand-up double into center driving in the first run of the game.
Madisun Pritchard would continue her dominance on the mound through the third and continued to shut out the Warriors.
An error in the outfield started the bottom of the third as Maely Ingram jogged around for a stand-up triple. Reagan Street of Happy Valley made an incredible diving catch on the next batter to keep the run at third. Maddie O’Quinn would knock the runner in and ended up at third following an errant throw.
The inning continued when Ember Jensen hit a sac fly into left and then a solo shot from Pritchard giving Elizabethton the 4-0 lead.
The bottom of the fourth was where the Cyclones really cut their teeth. Emma O’Quinn smacked a double into the outfield scoring a run and getting the first hit of the inning.
After Jensen singled, Pritchard hit a sac grounder to score another run. Kenidy Harris continued for the Cyclones with a double to make the score 8-0.
Poiroux would then hit a grounder into left-center scoring two runs. Bailee Vanhuss finished up the scoring for the inning and the game with a single to score another run making it 11-0 heading into the fifth inning.
Pritchard took the mound one last time and finish her shutout over the Warriors as the game would end via the mercy-run rule.
