Artha Loveless, 92, of Elizabethton, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at her residence. A native of Carter County, Artha was born on May 6, 1929 to the late Jett and Nell Ward Dugger. In addition to her parents, Artha was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, George Randolph Loveless; her brother, Jimmy Dugger; and her sisters, Laura Taylor, Luster Pate, Virginia Wilson, Sue Dugger and Hannah Whitehead.
Artha was a wonderful homemaker, mother, wife and grandmother and was a member of Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Artha loved her family and her church family and will be dearly missed.
Those left to cherish Artha’s memory include her daughter, Kathy (Kenny) Lethcoe; her special granddaughter, Cara Carr; her grandson, Jackson Richerson of Mobile, Ala.; her granddaughter, Nora Grace Richerson, also of Mobile, Ala.; and her special friends, Jeff and Sandy Carr, Debbie Wilson, Sandi Harris and Haynes Carr. Several nieces, nephews, neighbors and her church family also survive.
A service to celebrate Artha’s life will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, at Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church with her son-in-law, Pastor Kenny Lethcoe, and Pastor Justin Deaton officiating. Music will be provided by her special granddaughter, Cara Carr (soloist). The family will receive friends at the church from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service. The graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24, at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Pastor Justin Deaton officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Carr, Frank Arnett, Dale Colbaugh, Tommy Verran, Zach Ensor and Randall Lewis. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Babb and Dr. Jason Hatjioannou. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton at 10:45 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 125 Lane Hill Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643 in honor of Artha. The family wants to especially thank Artha’s special friends, Sandy Hill, Ruth Mottern, Sherri Pierce and Kathyrn Perry, for their love, compassion and care during this time.
