FROM STAFF REPORTS
The Elizabethton Cyclones did what every good team was supposed to do and that was building a five-run lead through four innings to support their pitching.
However, the Volunteer Falcons are a good team as well and put together a late rally toward the front before the Cyclones sunk their spikes in and held on for a 5-4 conference win over the Falcons.
Gage Treadway was the winning pitcher for the Cyclones going five and one-third of an inning allowing three runs on three hits and striking out nine. This backs up a game from last week where Treadway hurled a no-hitter fanning 16 batters.
The Cyclones received relief work from Connor Edmundson and Zak Workman to close out the game.
Elizabethton was led at the plate by Kaleb Hambrick, Peyton Johnson, and Ethan Meier who collected multiple hits in the ballgame with Hambrick going 3-for-4 at the plate while Johnson and Meier each had two base knocks.
The Cyclones didn’t commit an error in the contest.
