FROM STAFF REPORTS
Drivers using U.S. Highway 321 between Elizabethton and Johnson City will need to find alternate routes as the Tennessee Department of Transportation works to repair a depression in the roadway in the westbound lane between Milligan Highway and the Washington County line.
Drivers headed to Johnson City can detour onto State Route 91 and State Route 359 better known as Milligan Highway. Eastbound lanes will remain open.
The emergency road repair closure began on Friday and “due to the uncertainty in the scope of the work needed” there is not a time frame for reopening the lanes, TDOT said in a statement.
The report said cracking can be seen across both westbound lanes, but especially the right lane. The cracking exists about two-tenths of a mile from the Washington County line.
