The City of Elizabethton offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 21, for President’s Day.
Because of the closure, the garbage collection schedule has been altered for the week. Monday through Thursday collections will be one day late with Thursday and Friday’s scheduled collections picked up on Friday.
Also, offices at the Carter County Courthouse will be closed as will all state offices and federal offices. With the exception of a few select locations, US Postal Service offices will be closed. There will be no mail delivery to homes and businesses.
Presidents Day is a federal holiday, so lots of government-run officesareclosed, so courts, the drivers license bureau, etc. are closed.Retailers, on the other hand, are not.
Banks usually observe the holidays established by the Federal Reserve, so you count on them being closed on President’s Day. You can always head to an ATM if you have a transaction that can’t wait.
Also, both Carter County and Elizabethton City Schools will have a holiday Monday. The Elizabethton City School will use the day as a Professional Development Day along with Tuesday.
