Lessons about gardening and waltzing are just two of the activities available at Sycamore Shoals State Park in the upcoming month.

During the Raised Bed Gardening event on Saturday, Feb. 5, gardening extraordinaire Ben Hunter will share his experiences as well as techniques for “growing the garden of your dreams,” according to the website. “It is never too early to be planning and building your spring garden,” he is quoted as saying.

The event is from 9 a.m. to noon and admission is free. Registration is still required however.

On Feb. 13, attendees will enjoy an afternoon of early 19th century waltzing during the park’s Waltzing through Time event.

Sabine Hill Social Society will be hosting the event, and guest instructor Cynthia Atkins will be guiding members and guests through several different waltz dances.

No experience or partner is required, and dress is casual for the free event. Light refreshments will be served. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. with the program starting at 2 p.m.

On Feb. 27, the Old Time Music Jam makes its return. Led by Art Lang, attendees can enjoy the rich musical traditions of the region. Old time musicians of all levels are welcome.

Guided tours of The Carter Mansion and Sabine Hill are ongoing throughout the month. Carter Mansion guided tours will take place Feb. 3, Feb. 11, and Feb. 19 from 1 to 2 p.m., while Sabine Hill tours will take place on Feb. 4 from 1 to 2 p.m., Feb. 10 from 1 to 2 p.m., and Feb. 20 from 11 a.m. until noon.
