Lady Bucs fall in battle to Terriers, 73-51

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The ETSU women’s basketball team closes out a two-game road trip with a loss to Wofford.
STAT OF THE GAME
The Bucs had a perfect game at the charity stripe going 4-4. The Terriers would end the game going 14-18 at the free-throw line.
PLAYER OF THE GAME
Damiah Griffin (Memphis, Tenn.) brought the offense today leading the Bucs in points. She reached a season-high 17 points, replacing her previous 13 points. Griffin ended the game with 17 points and five rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bucs started the game by winning the opening tip-off. Wofford would answer quickly, going on a 10-0 that would last for more than half of the first quarter.
The Terriers would keep their lead going into the second, holding the Bucs to six points. ETSU sparked their offense in the second quarter, being carried by Damiah Griffin and Carly Hooks (Atlanta, Ga.). The Bucs would be trailing by only nine points going into halftime.
Coming out of halftime, the Bucs lost their spark after a couple of minutes of back-and-forth play. ETSU would trail Wofford by 17 points going into the final frame of play.
The Terriers would start the fourth quarter by taking a 21-point lead, their biggest of the game. Though the Bucs tried, they could not recover from their double-digit deficit. ETSU ended the game trailing by 22.

  • Damiah Griffin and Carly Hooks accounted for 32-of-51 Bucs’ points.
  • Annabelle Schultz led the Terriers in points (19).
  • Both teams were under 40 percent inside the paint.
  • 39-of-51 Buccaneer points were scored off the bench.
