On Wednesday, the Tennessee Department of Health recorded a 76% spike in Covid-19 statistics throughout the region of Northeast Tennessee, reporting 534 new cases of the virus and 10 total deaths.

Tennessee also reached a new all-time high with a record 75,045 new cases being recorded over the past seven days as well as over 100,000 active cases statewide. Hospitalizations from the virus have also spiked, reaching their highest total since October 2021.

In Northeast Tennessee only 49.2% of the population, or 248,878 people, are fully vaccinated.

County breakdowns for new cases are as follows: Sullivan County, 209; Washington County, 158; Greene County, 67; Carter County, 45; Hawkins County, 33; and Johnson and Unicoi counties, 11.

Deaths broken down by County are as follows: Sullivan County recorded four deaths; Johnson County, three; Greene County, two; and Hawkins, one.

As of Thursday, Ballad Health reports that there are currently 280 patients in their facilities with Covid-19, including 76 in ICU beds; 56 on ventilators; and two pediatric patients.

Since the pandemic began in April 2020, Tennessee has recorded 1,462,966 cases and 20,941 deaths, while Northeast Tennessee has attributed to 104,230 cases and 1,899 deaths. Carter County has recorded 11,862 total cases and 268 deaths.
