River’s Edge Fellowship in Elizabethton will be hosting a youth rally for teens to celebrate the love of Jesus one last time before the clock strikes midnight for the final time in 2021.
“We are going to be kicking things off at 6 p.m. on Friday,” said River’s Edge Fellowship pastor Ricky Jones. “But we will wrap things up by 9 p.m. so that parents know their kids won’t be out so late and because of the nature of what happens later in the night on this holiday.
“We are going to have plenty of food to feed everyone beforehand, and afterward we will be having a great session of worship. After that, we are inviting a local pastor to bring everyone the message before things wrap up,” said Jones.
“It sounds simple, but there is so much and so many people involved in this effort,” said Jones. “We are really just trying to reach the city teens that are in need of a safe place to go on New Year’s Eve.”
Jones said the biggest issue society faces today is “the insurmountable objects that our kids face everyday, and to give them a hope and a fresh viewpoint rather than what they are getting bombarded with is important to us. That, as well as giving them a fresh viewpoint that freedom from afflictions can be found, means so much.”
River’s Edge Fellowship is located at 1200 Highway 19E in Elizabethton.
