Jr. ‘Dogs pick up another early-season win

The Hampton Jr. Bulldogs were back on the court Monday evening for a contest against the Keenburg Tigers.
By the time the final horn sounded, Hampton came out of the fray with a 30-point win, 57-27.
The first half was a close contest as Hampton managed to work out to a 27-21 lead at the intermission.
Jamie Turbyfill led the charge for the Jr. ‘Dogs in the half by scoring six points. Caden Davis, Talon Creed, and Logan Lunsford tallied four points apiece in the opening half of play.
Conor McKinney added three while two each was scored by Ezra Tolley, Jackson Smith, and Thomas Shepherd.
Collin Taylor paced Keenburg’s effort as he scored nine of the 21 points in the half. Antonia Mireles added eight first quarter points while Jacob Burrow and Ricky Yoder pitched in with two points apiece.
A big third quarter put a large deficit between the two teams as the Jr. ‘Dogs outscored Keenburg 23- 2.
Davis was on fire in the period knocking down nine points to push Hampton up 50-23 at the end of the third quarter. McKinney added five points in the run with Creed scoring four.
The fourth quarter was mop up time for the Jr. ‘Dogs who took the win.
Davis led all scorers with a game-high 17 points for Hampton. Creed, McKinney, and Lunsford contributed eight points each in the contest.
Turbyfill (6), Shepherd (4), Tolley (4), and Smith (2) closed out the scoring ledger for Hampton.
Taylor led the Tigers in scoring with 12 points while Mireles also reached double figures with 11 points. Burrow and Yoder finished with two points apiece.
