It’s beginning to look like Christmas in Downtown Elizabethton.
“We kick off the Christmas season pretty early in Downtown, as a matter of fact Christmas lights started going up this week and the Christmas wreath was just hung on the covered bridge. It is such an exciting time for the downtown area and we just like to celebrate the holiday season as long as we can,” said Main Street Elizabethton Director Courtney Bean.
The group has been busy decorating and planning activities for the holiday season.
“To kick off our list of events taking place in November, we have our Christmas Open house on the 14th that will include sales and door prizes at select businesses,” she said.
“Along with that, an event everyone looks forward to each holiday season, the annual Frasier Fir Christmas Tree lighting downtown, will take place on November 20th and will be hosted by Carter County Bank,” Bean said.
On Nov. 27 the focus shifts to small businesses as Main Street promotes the local businesses with an event known as Small Business Saturday.
“Moving into December, there will be just as many events downtown as in November to help bring in the holiday spirit,” she added. Those include a Holiday Sip and Shop on Dec. 10 with extended shopping hours and the Christmas parade on Dec. 11.
The calendar is full throughout the season. There is going to be an exciting holiday event hosted by various business and organizations to enjoy every single week in Elizabethton from November 14th all the way until the middle of December,” Bean said.
