To the Editor:
This is in response to the recent letter by Ken Gough in defense of the post office.
For your information, the Postal Service has not lost a dime in operating costs. Apparently you have no clue how the Republicans changed the accounting system to make it look that way. Apparently, you don’t realize the vast amounts of money in the USPS reserve account, compliments of Bush and the Republicans.
Apparently, you are a Republican businessman and wants to run the USPS as a business type entity, maybe even want a cut of the action. It is NOT a business, set up for those at the bottom to make sacrifices of health care, wages, job protection, etc. so those at the top can reap the benefits and put huge amounts of money into their pockets and become wealthy. It was set up by our founding fathers to perform a service for our country. So do your research. Find out if it is being used like Social Security, as a bank, so when anyone wants to add to the “government” account, they borrow from it. I watched Bush do this.
