The Washington County Republican Party will host its annual Lincoln Day Celebration at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Kitchen at Grace Meadows Farm.
“This event is something we only do once a year and it is a fundraiser for the Washington County Republican Party,” said Wanda May, chairwoman of the Lincoln Day Celebration and 2021 Tennessee Republican Party Statesman of the Year for the First District. “It is a very important event and we always try to have a very well-known speaker as well as entertainment with live music and great food for all to enjoy. In the past, this event has welcomed around 500 attendees, however with the venue we are using now, that number will be reduced to around 300 people for this year’s celebration.”
May said the event is popular among local business and civic leaders as well as political candidates. “This event helps us out tremendously, as it assists us in helping get candidates elected into offices,” she said. “It’s very important for us to be able to raise this money, because helping get our candidates elected is something we are very proud to be able to do.”
May also said this year’s event will feature at least one familiar face. “This year, we are very excited to be able to host local music artist Carson Peters, who has taken part in this season of NBC’s the Voice. Along with that, the candidates running for office and those who have been elected will be the ones speaking at the event.”
