As hard as it is to believe that another prep football regular season is about in the books, that is exactly where we stand heading into this weekend’s prep contest.

While several of the regions already know where the playoff teams will shake out, others will have to wait and see what happens in the final week of play.

In Class 1-A, the top teams are already known as Cloudland will represent Region 1 as the top-seeded team while Coalfield will have that region’s one-seed coming in with a perfect 6-0 region record.

Unaka will be the two-seed out of Region 1 while a contest between Oakdale and Greenback should settle the two-seed out of Region 2.

Both Cloudland and Unaka will have home-field advantage in the first playoff game of the season.

In Class 2-A, it’s South Greene and Hampton who will finish one and two respectively in Region 1 with Happy Valley coming in as the four-seed.

Finally, in Region 1 Class 4-A, the Elizabethton Cyclones close out with Seymour Friday night and will be hosting a week one playoff game as Greeneville’s victory over the Cyclones guaranteed the Greene Devils home-field advantage throughout.

Volunteer and Seymour are currently tied with 2-2 records however Volunteer has the edge as they defeated Seymour during the regular season.

By Sunday morning, everything should be shaken out as far as the playoff scenarios as some teams will continue to play next week while others will be stowing their gear until next year as the season comes to an end.
