HAPPY VALLEY – A meeting of two of Carter County’s best on Thursday night was slightly tainted by the absence of several key players for the Hampton Bulldogs, but the Happy Valley Warriors didn’t care about any excuses.

The two middle school heavyweights clashed just before rain struck, but the storm started well before the rain with the thunderous attack of the Happy Valley offense which helped them ultimately take the game, 48-0.

Happy Valley started the game with a massive run from Gabe MacDougal for 48 yards. Aiden Paul took a run for five yards, but the drive would stall out when the Bulldogs got a big interception from Maddux Wilson.

With their first possession in tow, the ‘Dogs hoped to push the ball down the field and make a statement. A couple of runs from JJ Cable and Peyton Townsend made the offense look promising, but the drive quickly stalled out with a turnover on downs.

Tyler Berry and the Warriors needed just two plays to find the end zone as Berry rumbled for 20 yards and the first score of the game.

The two teams spent the remainder of the first quarter exchanging turnovers until the Warriors pushed the Bulldogs into the shadow of their own end zone. A host of Happy Valley defenders would combine for a safety and make it 8-0.

Ron Parker took the ensuing free kick back 55 yards for a touchdown and the Warriors quickly led by two scores.

The Bulldogs offense continued to struggle and Happy Valley again got the ball back.

Back-to-back touchdowns for the Warriors made it 28-0 as the half approached. The first score was a short-yard push from MacDougal with the second score coming on an Aiden Paul 18-yard pass to Berry .

Coming out of the half, the Hampton offense continued to struggle. A turnover on downs was the fate this time as the Warriors quickly turned it into points of their own with Paul calling his own number for 20 yards and a score.

Paul would close the game out with two more touchdown passes to MacDougal and Berry respectively. The game finished up at 48-0.
