HAPPY VALLEY – It’s never anyone’s ideal dream to lose. It’s difficult to lose in any facet of life regardless of whether it’s sports; not getting a job promotion; losing a bet, or anything else where losing is an option.
For the Happy Valley Warriors this season, losing has not been easy. The Warriors are looking for a win and they don’t care how they get it.
Two weeks removed from their heartbreaker against Unaka, the Warriors are going to be welcoming in the Longhorns of Johnson County this Friday night in a game that always seems to entertain. This year it may be especially significant as both teams have had tumultuous seasons.
Happy Valley has been looking high and low for momentum this season and it seems like every time they stumble onto a lead, something goes wrong. Whether it’s injuries, position changes, or running into a team they’re outmatched against everything has come at odds for the Warriors this year.
Coming into this Friday’s matchup against the Longhorns, the offense has got to get something going. The defense has done a pretty good job all season of being bend but don’t break, however, that doesn’t matter if they can’t put any points on the board.
As hard as it is to believe, the Warriors have one of the best athletes in Carter County on their team in Andrew Little, but he has to have a breakout game to help Happy Valley find a win. His explosiveness means that all it takes is one cut and the Warriors have points on the board.
Despite their record, this Happy Valley team is competitive and has fought all year. This week, against another struggling team, may be their shot to get some momentum as we head into the homes stretch of the season.
A home matchup is coming at just the perfect time as the Warriors are ready to finally make their appearance felt this Friday at home as they take on the Johnson County Longhorns.
