Lady Cyclones far too much for Lady Warriors winning in straight sets, 3-0

There’s always something a little extra special in the air when Happy Valley makes the short trip down the road to Elizabethton. The Lady Cyclones hosted the Lady Warriors on Monday night and despite the best efforts of the ladies down the way, it was Elizabethton’s night as they won in straight sets, 3-0.
Elizabethton took a lead right out of the gates in set number one taking control after a couple of early ties. The Cyclones went on a little run, but some silly mistakes and self-inflicted wounds let the Warriors right back in.
The big difference came at a score of 17-12 when the Cyclones took over serve and Mattie Davis led her team to six consecutive points including some nice aces and was capped off by a resounding Krisalyn Elliott spike.
Despite a great diving effort from Brooklyn Lingerfelt of the Warriors, the Cyclones had taken command. Elizabethton never looked back at that point and finished off the set 25-15.
Set number two started a lot different with Happy Valley getting the upper hand over the Cyclones early taking a six to five lead. Alexis Smith was putting in a really great effort for the Warriors.
That lead was short-lived as Elizabethton quickly battled back and then took on their most dominant run of the whole match. Gracie Kirsch took the serve for the Cyclones and delivered four consecutive points.
The pseudo MVP of the match had to be Jayci Bowers who took the serve at 12 to eight and helped score 11 consecutive points including several aces and the Cyclones calmly took set number two, 25-9.
Set number three started the exact same way as set two with Happy Valley finding early success, but it was again squandered once the Cyclones found their footing.
Once Elizabethton got back in control, the Lady Cyclones were prepared and ready to go ahead and close out the match. That’s exactly what they would do as they went on to finish out the Warriors, 25-11.
