The start of the 2021-2022 school year is just a mere few days away for faculty and staff at all county schools with many changes taking place with administration and staff since the end of the 2020-2021 year.
With many questions about the new school staff, Carter County Bank recently held a “Meet the Highlanders” event in Roan Mountain to allow the community to come and meet and greet the teachers and administrators who will be filling the halls of schools in the Roan Mountain area.
It was an important day for the bank’s staff especially since Roan Mountain was Carter County Bank’s first branch.
“It was an honor to be part of the event,” said Jennifer Greenwell, who serves as Carter County Bank PR and Event Manager. “Roan Mountain was Carter County Bank’s first branch, so it is a special place for us.”
The evening began with a barbeque supper at 5:30 p.m. at the Roan Mountain Community Park and the event began afterward. The theme of the evening was “A return to home”.
“We have always felt like Carter County and Elizabethton is the best place to live and work,” Greenwell said. “Many of the new teachers and administrators aren’t new but returning to the community and school system.
“It was great to allow the community and students the opportunity to meet their new faculty in such a fun and relaxed way.”
The event was just as meaningful to those who work at Carter County Bank as it was for the students, teachers, and the community.
“As Carter County’s Bank, we enjoy any opportunity to spend time in the community,” stated Andrew McKeehan, President of Carter County Bank. “This event was unique and so special to the bank employees, the community of Roan Mountain, and the returning faculty and administration.”
There were close to 200 people who were on hand to welcome the teachers and administration back to a new school year in Roan Mountain.
