Guess who’s back, back again… LIneup unveiled for the 95th annual Appalachian Fair

GRAY – 2020 was a tough year for many things including sporting events, concerts, and even community events and festivals like the Appalachian Fair.
It was an unusual sight for many people in the area to go without the fair last year, as 2020 was only the second year without the week-long event-the first being because of World War II.
But the Appalachian Fair will be making its return in 2021, and manager Phil Booher sat down with the media on Wednesday morning to give insight on this year’s star-studded lineup.
“We’re gonna kick off the week on Monday, August 23rd, and on Monday through Wednesday at 7 pm we will be hosting the US Army Golden Knights Parachute Team to perform several jumps and maneuvers.”
“In terms of music, we will kick off the week with country artist Jameson Rodgers, with the opening act being another country music artist in Tyler Booth.”
A few of Rodgers’ hit songs include “Some Girls”, “Cold Beer Calling My Name”, and “Good Dogs”, with “Already Got One” and “Palomino Princess” being just a few of Booth’s most recent hits.
“Tuesday’s entertainment will include a newcomer who has a new hit by the name of “Where I Find God”, and that artist is Larry Fleet.”
Wednesday’s entertainment will stick to the theme of country music when artist Jordan Davis hits the stage.
“Jordan has had several number one hits, including “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot”, “Take It From Me”, and “Singles You Up”.”
After an exciting first three days of country music, the Appalachian Fair will welcome contemporary Christian band Casting Crowns on Thursday night, who are known for their songs “Who Am I”, “Praise You in the Storm”, and “Voice of Truth”.
Friday night, things will switch back to the country music scene with Matt Stell, whose hits include “Prayed for You”, “That Ain’t Me No More”, and “Everywhere But On”.
“Matt has had a few number one songs on the charts, so we are looking forward to having him,” Booher said.
And to end a week filled with fun, the Appalachian fair will close things out on Saturday with another contemporary Christian artist, Jordan Feliz.
“He is an artist with many upbeat songs including “Next To Me”, “The River”, and “Changed”.”
Reserved seats for all of these great concerts will be available online after 11 am on July 24th or at the Fairgrounds at 9 am that day, and will be $15 per seat.
And just as in years past, the Appalachian Arena will be in full swing with Monday and Tuesday consisting of monster truck shows, Wednesday and Thursday showcasing bull riding, and Friday and Saturday hosting a demolition derby. All events at the Appalachian Arena will begin at 7:30 pm.
In terms of the Museum Stage at the fair, the Fairest of the Fair Pageant will take place on Monday at 7:30 pm, with Tuesday consisting of the Little Miss Pageant starting at 6 pm.
On Wednesday, the Museum Stage will be hosting the ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Competition at 7 pm, and on Thursday, the stage will be home to the Youth Talent Contest which also kicks off at 7.
The final two days of the fair will consist of Appalachian Fair’s Got Talent, with division one of the contest taking place Friday at 7 pm, and division two starting at the same time on Saturday.
For those interested in admitting entries into the many exhibits at this year’s fair, members of the community can fill out an entry form on the Appalachian Fair website. the adult entry deadline is August 7th, while the entry deadline for the youth department is July 31st. For non-perishable Farm and Home entries, items should be taken to the fairgrounds on Saturday, August 14th.
In the youth department, non-perishable item entries vary, with the CTE department accepting items August 13th-15th in the CTE building and perishable culinary entries being accepted on Friday, August 20th.
4-H, FFA, and FCCLA will accept non-perishable entries on August 15th and will accept perishable items on August 22nd in their respective buildings. The FCCLA will host its culinary competitions on Monday, August 23rd in the FCCLA building.
Lastly, the James H. Drew Exposition will return to the fair this year and offer ride specials every day of the week. Monday’s special consists of unlimited rides for $20, while Tuesday is student night where students will receive unlimited rides for $15.
Wednesday and Thursday’s ride specials will be the same as the first night, with $20 unlimited rides on both nights. Friday will be similar with $25 unlimited rides, while the last day of the fair will feature free rides from 10-11 am and unlimited rides for $30 dollars from 11 am-4 pm.
