To the Editor:
Last week the Elizabethton Shriners Club held its annual paper drive to support the club-supported hospital for children.
Thanks to the generosity of the community, we were able to reach our goal.
Every dollar raised in these campaigns goes directly to support the Shriner hospitals. There are 22 hospitals across our nation. They are non-profit facilities that specialize in pediatric care, including orthopedics, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft palate.
Since 1922 the hospitals have been able to provide care for children regardless of the family’s ability to pay.
Over the years hundreds of children in our area have been the beneficiary of these services, mostly at the Greenville, S.C., and Cincinnati, Ohio facilities.
