Gladys Marie Trout Vance, 87, of Roan Mountain, Tenn., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 30, 2021, from the Johnson City Medical Center. Gladys was born in Germantown, Md., to the late Henry Thomas Trout and Beulah Moyer Trout. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Vance; her son, Randy Vance; three brothers; and five sisters.
Gladys was a wonderful homemaker and was a member of Lower Shell Creek Christian Church. She volunteered at the Waters of Roan Highlands Nursing Home in Roan Mountain and helped out with meals and Christmas plays. Gladys enjoyed sewing – especially embroidery and stitching, gardening and cooking.
Those left to cherish her many wonderful memories include two daughters, Lisa Marie Bell and husband Ralph of Johnson City and Tammy Jane Miller and husband Richard Collins of Roan Mountain; her grandchildren, Zachary Perrigoy, Jacob Perrigoy, Scott Miller, Elizabeth Miller, Jesica Miller and Brandi Miller; a sister, Margaret Cider; her brothers, Harrison Trout, Joe Trout, Earl Trout, Richard Trout, Buck Trout and Charles Trout; and a very special friend, Conley Shell.
A service to celebrate the life of Gladys Marie Trout Vance will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, May 7, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, with Mr. Gerald Holly, minister, officiating. Jesica Miller will provide the eulogy. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, or at the residence at other times. The graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Scott Miller, Jacob Perrigoy, Zachary Perrigoy, Rick Collins, Patterson Cox and Mike Vance. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Lower Shell Creek Christian Church. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Rhododendron Chapel at noon Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Lower Shell Creek Christian Church, 8726 Highway 19E, Roan Mountain, TN 37687.
