Overmountain Republican Women will host ‘We the People’ series

CONTRIBUTED — On Thursday, March 18, at 6 p.m. the Overmountain Republican Women will host the first of the “We the People” series of community meetings. The “We the People” series enables taxpayers of all Carter County communities to have firsthand availability of information pertaining to current and future issues/concerns direct.
“Facts and valid information,” said Juanita McKinney ORW president, “is extremely important in making informed choices and making these choices known to their district commissioners. Only then, can the peoples’ voice be evident in the community growth.”
Speakers with Expertise
The “We the People” community meetings will have experts and/or leaders to reflect topics of interest to current affairs affecting Carter County. These topics will range from small to large that are relevant to taxpayer input. Topics and speakers will include all areas of the community with suggestions from taxpayers as presented to ORW. These meetings are for ALL interested parties that love and seek stability for Carter County. Tourism and the ripple effect industries, the understanding of Product. The first “We the People” community March 2021 meeting presents two highly noted topics of interest. Elizabethton Carter County Animal Shelter Director Shannon Posada will discuss the concerns of finances and proposed 501c3 status from hands on documented basis. The other speaker is Mike Fraley, a candidate for Carter County Sheriff, who will review his thoughts from his experiences on current issues and where law enforcement will be headed in the future.
Attendees are encouraged to be involved in questions and comments with regard to courtesy with open listening for cohesive discussions for beneficial understanding, in a relaxed respectful environment. This will be expected and adhered to as individuals and groups. Remember there is no bad question as we are all still learning in some manner or other, just allowing others to administer while answering to “We the People.”
ORW members meetings are every third Wednesday at 12 p.m. in the Elizabethton Star Conference Room, 300 N. Sycamore St., Elizabethton.
