If there is one thing that the COVID-19 pandemic has illustrated, it is the resilience of the medical, educational, and public service sectors of society throughout the world.
While many readers and watchers of news media only hear a brief skim of information from these workers, the Elizabethton STAR wants to go one step further and salute our local Frontline Heroes in each publication.
For that reason, we are reaching out to you — our readers — for submissions of your Frontline Hero so the community can take time to recognize those who have gone above and beyond to protect the citizens, provide the best healthcare, and educate the students of Carter County during one of the most challenging times the world has known in recent times.
Here is the information we seek:
— Hero’s name.
— Family names including pets if any.
— Occupation and some background (length of employment, location(s) worked during pandemic, etc.)
— Good quality photo.
— Please share why this person is a Frontline Hero in your opinion.
— If the individual can, please include a personal testimony of the challenges they have faced and how they have endured the pandemic in their own words.
— Name, phone number, and email of one providing info in the event of needing to clarify information.
Submission of the information can be done in three ways:
— Email the information along with a photo to: ivan.sanders@elizabethton.com
— Drop off the information along with a photo to the front desk at the Elizabethton STAR office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please mark as Frontline Heroes – Attention Ivan Sanders.
— Mail the information to Frontline Heroes C/O Elizabethton STAR, 300 North Sycamore St., Elizabethton, TN 37643.
We will be running the segment in our Wednesday and Sunday papers along with being posted on our internet website and Facebook page so those outside the area can also read about the Hometown Heroes in Carter County.
There is no cost to have your hero honored.
Heroes can be doctors, nurses, educators, police, fire, food providers that deliver to those who cannot provide for themselves, and EMTs.
Please take time to share this great opportunity with your neighbors and friends and at churches throughout Carter County.
