Coach Lucas Honeycutt’s smile looks like a kid that has snuck under the Christmas tree and opened an early Christmas present that no one knows is missing.

He has good reason too as his Cyclone hoopsters are riding high after picking up a third big win in a week as Elizabethton went on the road again and knocked off David Crockett by a slim 65-63 margin.

The Pioneers jumped out front in the early going rolling out to a 17-12 lead at the first stop of the contest.

Isaiah Long led the charge for Crockett scoring eight points in the quarter while Ayden Begley chipped in five in building the lead.

William Willocks kept the Cyclones in contention by scoring five points in the quarter while Nicholas Wilson scored four. Brayden Phillips drained a trey.

The Cyclones managed to outduel the Pioneers in the second period 12-10 to make it a 27-24 contest as the teams went to the locker room at the half.

Willocks and Wilson continued to show the way for Honeycutt’s team as Willocks added six more to his total while Wilson used his height to bang home four more to his total.

Coming out of the break, both teams had the offense flowing to max capacity as Crockett managed to win the third quarter but just barely, 20-19.

Mason Britton caught fire for Crockett hitting for 10 in the frame including two treys to keep his team out front heading into the final eight minutes, 47-43.

Willocks continued to have the hot hand for Elizabethton adding seven more to his total while Jake Roberts started to find his rhythm by adding five points in the quarter.

Wilson remained solid adding four more to his column in the quarter while Phillips buried another trey.

The Cyclones turned the tide in the fourth quarter outscoring Crockett 22-16 to take the win.

Willocks fired up a game and team-high 27 points to lead Elizabethton to the road victory. Wilson had a rock-solid outing contributing 14 points in the game.

Roberts and Phillips also reached double figures for Elizabethton with 11 points apiece. Seth Carter added a deuce.

For Crockett, Begley and Britton scored 19 and 18 points respectively to lead the Pioneers. Long finished with 10 points.
