CONTRIBUTED — According to Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation into a possible sexual relationship between a 16-year-old juvenile and a 30-year-old adult in June of this year. Last week Investigators presented the evidence in the case to a Washington County grand jury.
On Friday, Nov. 13, a Presentment was issued from Washington County Criminal Court charging 30-year-old Andrea Tate of Johnson City with aggravated statutory rape and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Tate was already being held at the Washington County Detention Center on unrelated charges, and is now being held on a $10,000 bond. Tate is scheduled to appear in Washington County Criminal Court on February 1, 2021.
