2020 All-District Soccer team released… Lady Cyclones place four on the Class 1-AA team

Much like other sports on the 2020-2021 sports calendar, girls’ soccer was a year filled with scurrying to fill open games complicated by COVID-19 but in the end, the season was able to be completed, and recently end of season awards was announced for the District 1-AA teams.

The Lady Cyclones who didn’t make it as far as they hoped in the season falling to Sullivan Central in the district semifinals managed to nab four spots on the 2020 District 1-AA All-Conference girls soccer team.

Senior Siana Robey and junior Maddie O’Quinn were named to the first-team squad while senior Tessa Lamb and sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Heaton were named to the second team.

Perennial power Greeneville filled both lists heavily as did the Lady Cougars of Central who made the finals after defeating the Lady Cyclones.

The Defensive Player of the Year in the district was Greeneville’s Olivia Norris while the Co-Offensive Players of the Year were Greeneville’s Lindsey Cook and Central’s Rylie Patrick.

Emily Robinette of Central was named as the District 1-AA Coach of the Year for 2020.

The following is the first and second teams as selected by the district coaches.

First Team
Greeneville – Delana DeBusk, Macy Vermillion, Olivia Brooks, Lauren Thomas.
Sullivan Central – Adeline Ensley, Jessie Lange, Baily Meade.
Elizabethton – Siana Robey, Maddie O’Quinn.
Volunteer – Emma Lukens, Alyssa Chappell.
Sullivan South – Sydney Ferrando.
Lana Deshner – Unicoi Co.

Second Team
Greeneville – Brylee Tweed, Kaitlyn Adkins, Anna Johnson, Mikayla Weems.
Sullivan Central – Emma Niebruegge, Emme Fox, Jaelyn West.
Elizabethton – Morgan Heaton, Tessa Lamb.
Volunteer – Erin Smallwood, Lauren Ross.
Sullivan South – Sunny Iacino.
Unicoi Co. – Karen Reyes.
