Lady Cyclones win thriller in middle school volleyball matchup

While fall sports at high schools around the area are in full swing, the same could be said about middle school athletics.
Monday night, TA. Dugger saw some volleyball action as the Jr. Lady Cyclones hosted the John Sevier Lady Warriors.
After an impressive sweep of the Lady Warriors by the junior varsity team, the varsity squad looked to do the same to the visitors.
The first set of the contest was a tightly contested one for the first few points, as the Lady Warriors would match every move that the Jr. Lady Cyclones would make.
However, it didn’t take long for the home squad to pull away, going up by a score of 18-8 in the first set and causing a desperation timeout by the visitors.
The Lady Cyclones would keep their momentum after the timeout as they would take the advantage in the first set, 25-17.
The second set of the night also brought along the Lady Warriors first lead as the Lady Cyclones would call a timeout after going down 10-6 against the visitors.
The momentum didn’t stop there, as the Lady Warriors were able to increase their lead to 16-6 before the Lady Cyclones could score again.
But the tide began to shift in the set when the home team was able to go on a run of their own tying the game at 17 points apiece and still coming in hot.
And after trailing and making yet another comeback, the gas had, unfortunately, ran out for the Lady Cyclones as the Lady Warriors would take the second set, 25-24.
In the third and final set, the Lady Cyclones came out looking to make up for the previous set while the Lady Warriors were running on momentum from the last time out.
Just when one team would take a slight advantage their opponent would come right back to even the odds, as even nearing the end of the match both teams were knotted up at 12.
However, the Jr. Lady Cyclones would put it into overdrive as they scored the final three points, going on to win the set 15-12, and winning the match two sets to one.
