Lady Cyclones fall to front-running Central in TRC play, 3-0

There is no doubt who are the front runners in Three Rivers Conference volleyball play this season as the Sullivan Central Lady Cougars continue to take on the best of the best and come out on top in those matches.
On Thursday, the Lady Cyclones of Elizabethton were looking to make a statement of their own when they played host to the Lady Cougars but soon found out the Central wasn’t interested in being challenged on this night.
After a close 25-19 opening set, the Lady Cougars rolled through the next two easily winning 25-9 and 25-13 to secure the match win in a contest that took just 72 minutes to complete.
Elizabethton did continue to get good defensive play from Grace Martin and Brittany Kitchens as Martin led with 16 defensive digs while Kitchens totaled 11.
Makaiah Williams and Kallista DePrimo chipped in with nine and six digs respectively.
At the net, Mattie Davis recorded six kills and Cheyenne Poiroux collected five to lead in that category.
Williams also had a nice evening collecting 12 set assists while Jayci Bowers contributed with six assists in the contest.
With the loss, the Lady Cyclones fell to 10-11 overall on the season.

Earlier in the week, the Lady Cyclones traveled to Mountain City where they tangled with the Lady Longhorns.
When the dust settled, Elizabethton was able to board the bus with a 3-0 win over the home team.
The Lady Cyclones took the first set 25-13 and then followed that up with a 25-16 win in set two. Elizabethton closed out the match in the third set with a 25-14 victory to seal the outcome of the contest.
Grace Martin and Jayci Bowers played a solid defensive contest as each recorded an even dozen digs in the win.
While Martin and Bowers were taking care of the backcourt, Mattie Davis was ruling at the net sending home nine kills to lead the Lady Cyclones.
Kallista DePrimo and Cheyenne Poiroux also played well at the net collecting seven kills apiece.
