A narrow victory… Cyclone boys clip Dobyns-Bennett by a single stroke

The Elizabethton Cyclone golf team got a late-season tune-up for next week’s district tournament when they traveled to Kingsport and the Ridgefield Country Club for a two-team match with the Indians of Dobyns-Bennett.
If the Cyclones can play as they did on Monday, they stand a good chance of showing well next week with a region berth on the line as the Elizabethton boys came away with a one-stroke, 159-160, win over the Indians on their home course.
Carson Peters led the charge on the day for the Cyclones as he fired a 38 to lead his team to the victory. Peters had plenty of help as fellow teammates Caleb and Cooper Tipton carded identical 40s and Kerry Williams closed out the four-player scoring with a nine-hole total of 41.
Other Cyclone golfers who competed on the day were Padraig Murphy who finished out his day with a 42 and Brayden Phillips who came into the clubhouse with a day’s work of 53.
William Karst of D-B was the day’s medalist in boys play edging out Peters by one stroke as the Indian golfer finished with a 37.
Taylor Kilgore finished with a 40 while Zac Fletcher and Luke Lett closed out the team’s scoring with a 41 and 42 respectively.
In girl’s play, the Lady Indians finished on top 27 strokes ahead of the Lady Cyclone linksters.
Katelyn Kechter and Hannah McDonnell made up the two-player team score for Elizabethton as Kechter finished her round with a 53 while McDonnell was one stroke back with a 54.
Other Lady Cyclones who took to the links at the Ridgefields Golf Course were Kylee Evans with a 57 and Gabby Miller with a nine-hole total of 59.
Lady Indian Isabella Vanderbeast finished as the medalist with a sizzling 35 on the afternoon.
