Elizabethton boys, East girls win matches at Tri-Cities Golf Course

The Elizabethton Cyclone boys’ golf team continues to get better each time they take to the links and that was evident on Thursday at the Cyclones took to the course at Tri-Cities Golf Course in Blountville and proceeded to take another match win over Science Hill and Sullivan East.
Elizabethton won by 12 strokes over Science Hill, 161-173, and handily over the host East Patriots who finished the round with a 188.
The quartet of Carson Peters, Padraig Murphy, Caleb Tipton, and Cooper Tipton continues to shine for head coach Zachary Ensor putting together a strong round to lead to the victory.
Peters and Murphy finished with rounds of 38 while Caleb Tipton ended his day with a 41 while Cooper Tipton added a strong finish with a 44.
Not only did the main core of Cyclone golfers have a great day but the entire team also played well on the course.
Junior Varsity player Luke Campbell finished with a 42 while Brayden Phillips, Kerry Williams, and Chase Buck finished the nine-hole round by each carding a 45.
Jacob Williams wrapped up his day with a 47. Conor Edmundson (52) and Alex Gouge (59) finished out the day for the Cyclones.
AJ Jain led Science Hill to the second-place finish with a 40 while teammates Boone Hatcher (42), Eli Garret (44), and John Rush (47) helped to account for the ‘Toppers team total of 173.
Meanwhile, East was paced by Justin Dillard’s 43. Matt Durham added a 47 with Jake Kyte and Bradley Chapman finishing with identical 49’s.
On the girls’ side, the host Lady Patriots held off the Lady Cyclones in team action, 93-101.
Gracie Carrier led her team to the win by firing a 46 while Tori Lenard was one stroke off the pace with a 47 to account for the two-player team score in girls’ play.
The Lady Cyclones struggled on the day as no Elizabethton player finished below 50.
Kylee Evans was the low scorer on the day as she would finish with an even 50 after nine holes. Evans teammate, Gabby Miller, followed with a 51 to account for the team score for the Lady Cyclones.
The Cyclones will be back on Elizabethton Golf Course on Monday for a huge match with visiting Dobyns-Bennett, Volunteer, and Sullivan South as tournament time is just three weeks away.
