It seemed that the only rain cloud in or around Elizabethton settled on the Elizabethton Golf Course Monday after as Daniel Boone, Crockett, and Elizabethton squared off in a three-team match on the golf links.
By the time the teams headed back to turn in their final scores, the clouds moved out and the sun broke through once again. By the time the scorecards were tallied, the Daniel Boone girls and the Elizabethton boys came out on top after the nine-hole event was completed.
In girls’ play, the Lady Blazers carded out with a 94 to top the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones by nine strokes and the Lady Pioneers by 11 strokes.
Jenna Branum finished with a 46 to take the top medalist with a 10-over-par leading Boone to the win. Teammate Elsie Lunsford finished with a 48 as the top two finishers were figured into the team score.
Lady Blazer Haddie Lunsford finished out her nine-hole day with a 50.
For Elizabethton which finished with a 103, Hannah McDonnell paced the Lady Cyclones with 51 on the day followed closely by Katelyn Kechter with a 52.
Other Lady Cyclones taking to the links included Kylee Evans (53), Gabby Miller (57), and Katie Lee (62).
Crockett’s best finisher on the girls’ side was Gracie Rader who finished her round with a 51. Madison Day’s 54 helped to make up the Lady Pioneer’s score for the match.
Lady Pioneer Aubri England finished her day with a 56.
In boy’s action, the Cyclones finished with a team-total 161, five strokes better than Boone who finished with a 166. Crockett closed out the day with a 181.
Boys’ team scores are composed of the top four scores for the round.
The Cyclones had a great day out of Padriag Murphy who fired an even-par 36 for the nine-hole round. Teammate Carson Peters was close behind as the lefty finished the day with a 39 – three-over-par round.
Caleb Tipton shot a 40 followed by Cooper Tipton with a 46 to make up the Cyclones total for the day.
Other Cyclone finishers included Kerry Williams (48) and Brayden Phillips (49).
Boone’s top finisher for the round was John Hale who carded a three-over-par 39.
Aiden Hyder (42), Dailey Carder (42), and Dylan Slide (43) closed out the Blazers 166 total.
Austin Moody (46) and Dalton Cloyd (48) were other Boone team finishers.
Crockett wrapped up the three-team match by collecting a 181 on the pristine Elizabethton Golf Course.
Seth Bible’s 39 led the charge for the Jonesboro team. Braden Clever (43), Justyn Forbes (49), and Eli Hanneken (50) made up the team score for the Pioneers.
Dalton Bacon collected a 52 to close out the day for Crockett.
The Cyclones will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to the Johnson City Country Club for a match with the Science Hill Hilltoppers.
