It was a gorgeous day on the links as the Hampton High School boys’ and girls’ basketball team completed their annual golf fundraiser this past Sunday as over 100 players took to the course looking for the Bulldog Golf Championship title.
Two flights were played throughout the day with one teeing off at 9 am and the other at noon.
In the morning group of players, Team Carter County came out on top by recording a low-round score of 54.
Team members consisted of Chris Guy, John Wagner, Steve Morton, Bobby Hamby, and Cameron Dugger.
As the morning round of golfers came off the course, it was time for the second cluster of players to make their way around the pristine course.
It didn’t take long for the second shotgun start to get underway.
Team Mapes Piano came away with the second portion of the day. Members of the team include Wesley Jones, Christofer Schaff, Hayden Lillie, and Tucker Miles.
The afternoon winning score was 52.
Golfers also enjoyed participating in the putting contest as Guy, Mike Davis, and Schaff took the awards for putting.
Tournament director Mike Matheson was very pleased to have the great weather and the awesome turnout in support of Hampton’s basketball team.
The annual tournament is one of the largest fundraisers the teams have so it was of utmost importance to get the tournament in.
“I just want to say a big ‘Thank You’ to everyone that participated from each member of the teams,” Matheson added.
Hole signs were placed at various holes with those who elected to support the team last year. Golfers also enjoyed lunch which was included with the fees.
