Jonesborough man charged following shooting

According to Sheriff Ed Graybeal, deputies responded to a home on Berry Court East yesterday evening concerning a shooting incident.
Upon arrival, deputies found an 86 year old man suffering from a gunshot wound inside a bedroom of the residence. The victim was taken to the Johnson City Medical Center but later died. Both victim and suspect lived in the home.
An investigation revealed that Greg Carver, age 43, had been sleeping inside the bedroom with a loaded shotgun, and he shot the victim when he stepped into the bedroom.
Greg Carver was arrested at the scene by investigators, and charged with Reckless Aggravated Assault. Today, charges were upgraded to reckless Homicide in General Sessions Court and Carver remains held on a $100,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing at this time and more charges are pending.
