JoAnn Pierce, 81, of Johnson City, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 5, 2020. Born on February 19, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Berta Tapp Edwards. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Cannon; her brothers, Glenn Edwards and Richard (Leon) Edwards; and an infant son, Michael E. Pierce.
JoAnn had worked as an inspector in manufacturing and attended Milligan Free Will Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her many wonderful memories include four children, Debbie Hamm and husband Terry, Ronnie Pierce, Raymond (Chuck) Pierce and Teresa Cole and husband George; her grandchildren, Michael Pierce and wife Becki, Josh Hamm and wife Ashley, Brandon Pierce and wife Ashley, Stephanie Pierce, Justin Hamm and Maggie, and Katie Pierce; her great-grandchildren, Lily, Kaleigh, Ashlynn, Tinley and Mason; and two brothers, Leonard Edwards and Ben Edwards. Several honorary great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service to celebrate the life of JoAnn Pierce will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, in the Ensor Cemetery with Pastor Mark Street officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Roger Henson family. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton, at 10:15 a.m. Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Milligan Free Will Baptist Church, P.O. Box 113, Milligan College, TN 37682-0013. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Christina Hutchins, Tammy Wilhoit, Amedysis Hospice and nurse Bekah Edens for their wonderful care of JoAnn.
