Due to health concerns associated with the COVID-19 virus, the 2020 season of Liberty! has been canceled.
The drama is usually performed each summer the last three weekends of July at Fort Watauga.
The cancellation of this summer’s production is a result of the ongoing challenges created by the COVID-19 virus. “Friends of Sycamore Shoals Park stayed in close contact with county and state officials, and determined this was the best course of action to not risk the safety of its guests, cast, crew, and staff,” a spokesman for the organization said.
“Liberty! The Saga of Sycamore Shoals” is the official outdoor drama of Tennessee and is produced by the Friends of Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park, a non-profit of volunteers whose mission is to celebrate the history of the settlement of the area now known as Northeast Tennessee, and to support the park marking the spot “Where Liberty Began … and History Lives!”
Hopefully, the drama will be back in July 2021.
