Man arrested in stabbing on Dennis Cove Road

Deputies with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man Saturday after witnesses stated he broke into a home on Dennis Cove Road and stabbed a woman.
John Allen Stout, 40, is charged with aggravated assault, arson, especially aggravated burglary, and resisting arrest.
The charges come after deputies were called to Dennis Cove Road Saturday morning. Once on scene, they discovered a female victim who appeared to have at least one stab wound. Deputies then spoke to witnesses who stated that Stout broke into the home and stabbed the victim in the abdomen. Stout then threatened to burn everyone in the residence alive, at which point one of the residents picked up a baseball bat and hit Stout in the head. Stout then fled the residence.
Deputies arrested the suspect approximately an hour later. Stout attempted to fight back but was taken into custody. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment. She is in stable condition at the time of this release.
Stout is being held in the Carter County Detention Center on a bond of $80,000.
