As of March 23, Carter County Schools have a good supply of homework packets available for pickup.
Kevin Ward, Director of Carter County Schools, said there is no current shortage of these packets, and that they can be picked up six days a week.
“We are good on our packets right now. We do not have a shortage,” he said. “We have our packets in bins that sit outside from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.”
He also said that the amount of copies of these packets in the bins is plentiful at this time.
Ward said that these bins can be found outside the central office in these bins, which will be sitting outside during those times on those set days. He said they can be found near the blue awning at the front of the building.
While not everyone may be able to get to these packets, Ward said he will find a way to ensure students have them. For this he suggests people call the central office to provide their name and address or send him an individual email letting him know.
“I will put the packets in my car and take it to them myself,” he said.
The homework packets currently serve to aid in two weeks worth of work for students during the county closure from last week until March 31. Ward said additional decisions on this amount of work and school closures will continue to develop throughout the week. Additionally, Ward urged students to still call one another to work together on the packets for any help needed.
As for current resources, Ward noted the crashing of a couple of copy machines in the process, but said as of now they are doing fine. He said additional paper has been ordered. As with the developing information on schools in general, potential needs for resources will also be made more in detail later this week.
In response to community efforts with aspects like local churches stepping up to aid in meal deliveries to children in the area, Ward wanted to say thank you.
“I want them to know I appreciate it,” he said.
