Lady Cyclones pick up TRC win over Happy Valley, 10-1

The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones picked up their second Three Rivers Conference win of the week as Coach Ken Hardin’s squad pounded out 13 hits to record the victory.
Happy Valley took the early lead as Maddie Lingerfelt’s single plated a run to stake the Lady Warriors to a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Warriors held that 1-0 lead until the bottom of the third inning when the Lady Cyclones sent two runs across the dish. Ember Jensen squeezed a single in between a pair of outs to give the Lady Cyclones some hope.
After Maggie Johnson worked a walk, pitcher Madisun Pritchard helped her own cause with a single to left field that scored both runners making it a 2-1 lead in favor of Elizabethton.
The Lady Cyclones blew things open in the bottom of the fourth inning when Marley Wagner opened the frame with a single. Emmagrace Wilson was hit by a pitch to put a pair of Lady Cyclones on base.
Kaylen Shell singled to center bringing home pinch-runner Kadence Presnell. After getting the second out of the inning, Maddie O’Quinn singled home Shell making it a 4-1 ball game.
Jensen, who reached on a fielder’s choice, scored on an error making it 5-1 as the Lady Cyclones went on to add five more in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.
O’Quinn, Pritchard, Wagner, and Shell had two hits apiece for the game.
Pritchard went the full seven innings from the pitching circle for the Lady Cyclones giving up three hits and the one run while striking out eight Lady Warrior batters. Pritchard issued two base on balls.
Abbie Holt was saddled with the loss as the Lady Warrior allowed the 10 runs, nine which were earned, while striking out one and walking three Lady Cyclones.
Lingerfelt’s two hits paced Happy Valley. Cierra Southerland picked up the Lady Warrior’s other base knock.
