The Elizabethton Police Department, Carter County Rescue Squad and Elizabethton Fire Department were dispatched to Milligan Highway after a head-on crash late Tuesday afternoon.

At around 4:00 p.m., dispatchers responded after a blue 2001 Chrysler Sebring traveling north, went into the southbound lane and struck a black 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt at the 1800 Block of Milligan Highway. Both drivers were transported by the CCRS to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment.

The EPD Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team was activated to assist with the investigation of the crash.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time and charges are pending.
