Keeping fresh players coming off the bench that was deep, the Rangers had no answer for the pick and roll. Hampton used a full-court press that accounted for several turnovers and passed the ball well working it to the inside.
Conor Jones led Hampton with 16 points, Morgan Lyons scored 14, and Rocky Croy followed with 12.
The game was even through one as the Rangers were up 12 to 10, but a foul with one second left sent Lyons to the line for two free throws and
he tied the game at 12 to end the period.

Ryan Johnson and Will Sexton teamed up to score 13 of the Rangers 15 in the second to keep the game close, trailing 30 to 27 at the half.
Hampton would outscore Unaka 31-20 in the second half as they held on for a 61-47 win.
Coach Aaron Dugger’s Rangers made a run at the end but easy buckets just would not fall.
Sexton led the Rangers with 24 points. Johnson and Devin Ramsey scored nine points each.
In the girls’ action the Lady Rangers look like a bomber squad throwing up three’s from all over the floor.
Coach Kenneth Chambers said, “They all played good tonight and they played as a team, I am proud of them, I think everyone on the team scored.”
Eleven Rangers scored points and seven of them hit treys. Lyndie Ramsey led the way with 13 points, Jada Whitehead hit three treys and Maci Ensor and Tara Whitehead scored seven.
The Lady Rangers had five girls score in every period, something one really doesn’t see in boys or girls basketball.
The Rangers were fired up from the opening tip and jumped out to a 14-8 lead. The packed-in defensive zone held Hampton to mainly one
shot.
Unaka held a 29-18 lead at the break.
In the third quarter Coach Chambers put the pressure on and outscored Hampton 18-6. They would go on to win 61-34.
Hazen Brummit led Hampton with 10, Hannah Collins was 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.
