June Odom Whitehead

June Odom Whitehead, 90, Roan Mountain, passed away at the Waters of Roan Highlands on Sunday, January 19, 2020.
June was the daughter of the late Thomas and Laura Barnett Odom.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Byrl Whitehead; two daughters, Sherrye Reine and Yvonne Whitehead; and one granddaughter, Beth Reine Holloway. She was also preceded by one sister, Florence Odom Stevens, and two brothers, Ford and Clyde Odom.
June was a homemaker and worked with the Girl Scouts in Hampton, Tenn., and Taylor, Mich., for 14 years. She was a member of Little Mountain Baptist Church where she worked with the youth. In past years she was a member of Sunset Freewill Baptist Church where she taught the Ladies Sunday School Class.
She is survived by a grandson, Brett Reine and wife Rebecca Reine of Jacksonville, N.C., and six great-grandchildren, Logan Reine, Sloane Reine, Hunter Reine, Isabel Reine, Brick David Reine and Thomas Holloway. She is also survived by her caregivers and son-in-law, Tom Reine and wife Vanessa Reine. There are several nieces and nephews and one special niece, Delores Honeycutt.
Funeral services for June Whitehead will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 25, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gary Whitehead officiating. Music will be provided by Jean Irick and Tom Reine. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family members.
