Lady Cyclones stay hot with two wins

The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones are on a roll as Coach Lucas Andrews team wrapped up a hot week with wins over Unicoi County and Cosby.
Elizabethton’s game with Unicoi Co. came down to an exciting last-second shot from Morgan Headrick for the win while the Lady Cyclones had a little easier time against Cosby.

In a contest that had more turns that a winding Unicoi County back road, the game wasn’t determined until the final shot left the hands of Headrick to seal the Three Rivers Conference win for Elizabethton.
The Lady Cyclones jumped out to a 16-11 lead at the end of the first period but Unicoi Co. battled back on both ends of the court to take a 22-21 lead to the break as the Lady Cyclones only scored five in the second period.
After struggling offensively coming out of the break, the Lady Cyclones finally put it together in the fourth period outscoring the home team 16- 9 to secure the win.
Kaylen Shell led the Lady Cyclone attack with 17 points followed by Kaitlin Bailey with 11 points.
Lina Lyon came off the bench to record eight points while Headrick and Torrie Roberts scored five and two points respectively.
Caroline Podvin led all scorers with a game-high 23 points for Unicoi Co.

The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones grounded the Cosby Lady Eagles in a big way to close out the week by taking a 34-point win over their visitors.
Morgan Headrick was unstoppable as the Lady Cyclone was hitting everywhere but from the Wal Mart parking lot as she torched the nets for 22 points.
Elizabethton also received double-digit scoring from Kaitlin Bailey (15) and Kaylen Shell (11) as the Lady Cyclones seem to be coming together at the right time of the season.
Coach Lucas Andrews also got eight points from McKendra Norris and three each from Torrie Roberts and Maddie Fowler.
Katie Lee (2), Lina Lyon (2), and Kelsie Winters (1) closed out the scoring for Elizabethton.
“We are starting to get more chemistry and we are starting to get healthy,” said Andrews of his team’s resurgence. “We got more people helping and getting to practice more together.
“We are also getting more game minutes together and just getting a rhythm within ourselves like we know we have got.”
