Lamont Cloe Barnett

Lamont Cloe Barnett, 66, of Johnson City, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 9, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Lamont was the son of the late John and Imogene Barnett of Elizabethton, Tenn. Lamont was also preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Barnett.
Lamont is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda Street Barnett; two children, Jennifer Marie Barnett and Jeremy Lamont Barnett and wife Kelly, and grandson Elliot; brother, Russell “Rusty” Barnett and wife Kim; sister, Anna Jean Calhoun and husband Dwayne; and several nieces and nephews.
Lamont was passionate about his faith and his family. Lamont was a 1971 graduate of Hampton High School and East Tennessee State University in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. He was a retired teacher at Central Elementary School and a respected football, basketball, and baseball coach.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, January 12, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. The service will be officiated by Mr. Dwayne Calhoun, minister, officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at Happy Valley Memorial Park on Monday, January 13, at 11 a.m. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 10:20 a.m. Monday to go in procession to the cemetery. Friends may also visit with the family at his residence.
