The hours of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day slowly made their way through the various media cycles.
Dallas and his wife, Destiny, awoke early on New Year’s Eve, fully prepared to close out 2019 and ring in 2020 in their customary and traditional manner. Dallas and Destiny both asked off work for both days, realizing the importance of time and how it shaped all aspects of their lives — past, present and future.
The couple began their day with an hour filled with praise and prayer. “We praise you, Lord, for your provision, protection and providence throughout 2019,” Destiny whispered softly.
“And for all your blessings in every area of life,” Dallas chimed in.
The prayer time was concluded with a few moments of musical worship, as the couple sang several of their favorite worship choruses. All the choruses featured common themes — God’s love and faithfulness to His children.
After Dallas and Destiny ate their typical breakfast of pumpkin spice oatmeal, whole wheat toast and orange juice, they went for a walk in the neighborhood that was just a few blocks from their home. As they walked hand-in-hand, they shared the love they had for each other.
Returning home from their walk, Dallas and Destiny sat down to discuss their Bible studies for the upcoming year. Destiny suggested that for the first three months of the year the couple should study both the past and the future. “Genesis tells us about God’s abundant and amazingly wonderful creation,” she said. “And Daniel and Revelation speak a lot about the world and its future.”
Dallas realized the keen spiritual insight his wife possessed. “That sounds fine to me, sweetheart,” he told her. “And I think every day of our study will be a bit more fruitful if we memorize a Bible verse every day.”
For the second quarter of 2020, the couple decided to study the life of Jesus Christ. “The more we can learn about our savior, the better off we’ll be,” reasoned Dallas.
The lives of King David and his son Solomon were selected as the subject matter for the couple’s third quarter’s Bible study. “These kings were very important during Old Testament days,” Destiny stated. “We would do well to become well-versed about their lives.”
Destiny had an unusual proposal for the couple’s fourth quarter Bible study. “I think we should study everything the Bible says about sleep,” she said. “What do you think?”
“I think I’m going to have to start getting more sleep so I’ll be rested enough to study the subject!” Dallas grinned.
