School guard accused of assaulting Tennessee student

NASHVILLE (AP) — A security officer for a Tennessee school district is accused of lifting a 12-year-old student off the ground and holding him against a wall.
Andre Tyus, 40, has been charged with assault and put on administrative leave, news outlets report. He was jailed Thursday and was released after posting bail.
Tyus is not a school resource officers, according to the school district. He’s been with the district for three years. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer. A settlement hearing has been set for Jan. 31.
