HAPPY VALLEY – Thursday night featured a double dose of action on the hardwood as the Indians of Mosheim made the trip from Greene County to take on the Warriors of Happy Valley Middle.
The girl’s matchup saw the Lady Warriors lead wire to wire while the boys game played host to a big comeback by way of the Indians.
In the girl’s game, both teams got off to a slow start as the score stood at just 5-4 after the first period of play.
The action picked up in the second with Lacey Byrd and Marcida Thompson taking over for Happy Valley as they scored a combined eight points to give the Lady Warriors the 18-10 advantage heading into the break.
Each player finished with a game-high 11.
The third quarter was much of the same as Cayden Anderson would score five of her eight and Happy Valley extended its lead to 28-18 going into the final quarter of play.
The fourth quarter was a formality as both teams traded baskets until the final horn as the Lady Warriors were victorious 34-25.
Reyna Byrd also contributed four points to the win.

The boy’s game saw a more competitive matchup.
Happy Valley got off to a fast start with a 7-0 lead spearhead by Joseph Sowards who finished with eight points.
But the Indians quickly pulled back level and the two teams were deadlocked at nine after one.
The second saw Happy Valley try and pull away, but the Indians kept hanging around. Tucker Shoun would score all six of his points in the quarter and that was the difference heading into the half as the Warriors lead 22-16.
A three from Austin Nickles and a bucket from Jadin Kent kept the Happy Valley lead alive as both teams battled back and forth.
As soon as Mosheim looked out of the game, they would pull close until another Warrior run would leave the difference the same as Happy Valley led 33-28 going into the final frame of play.
The fourth quarter belonged to Mosheim as the Indians outscored the Warriors 15-4.
The final score was 43-37 in favor of the Indians and the Warriors had to feel a little disappointed letting their lead slip away in the 4th.
Jaryn Gouge (2), Dakota Grindstaff (9), Donovan Mitchell (4), and Drew Blevins (2) closed out the scoring for the Jr. Warriors.
