ARM (Assistance and Resource Ministry ) will host the Cans Film Festival at the Bonnie Kate Theater in downtown Elizabethton, Saturday, Dec. 14. Donations of canned goods for ARM Food Pantry will be taken at the door and a $3 donation to the Bonnie Kate will be appreciated.
Three distinct Ebenezer Scrooges will star.
At 1 p.m., the Muppet Christmas Carol will be shown. Michael Caine stars as Scrooge with Muppet characters filling in the other roles. This is one parents can come to with their children and everybody will leave happy.
At 4 p.m., the Bonnie Kate will show the 1951 version of A Christmas Carol. This is the one that both charmed and terrified many as a child. Scrooge is Alistair Cook. It is in terrifying black and white and is the closest to the Dickens novel.
At 7 p.m., Scrooge will play. This one stars Bill Murray, John Forsythe, Bobcat Goldthwait, Carol Kaine, Robert Mitchum, and Michael J. Pollard. It has the most adult humor of the three movies.
All movies are donated by the Elizabethton Public Library.
“ARM depends on so many for their existence. The library, The Bonnie Kate Theater, and others such as Second Harvest, United Way, WalMart, Northeast Community Credit Union, Carter County Bank, Elizabethton City Council, Carter County Commission, Bristol Motor Speedways Children’s Charities, grants, many churches, businesses and individuals,” said Elizabeth Banks, one ARM’S many volunteers.
ARM is a Food Pantry which serves an average of 650 families each month, which totals over 1,400 families.
