Tennessee man charged with murder in 18-year-old cold case

NASHVILLE (AP) —  A Tennessee man has been arrested and charged in a murder case that went cold for 18 years.

Douglas Talley, 51, is accused of killing 72-year-old Etta Etheridge, who was found unresponsive in her Paris home in 2001, news outlets report.

Over the years, the state Bureau of Investigation and Paris police worked together on the case and recovered new evidence and leads recovered that implicated Talley, according to a state bureau news release. Details about those leads and evidence weren’t immediately provided.

Last week, a grand jury indicted him on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree murder in the perpetration of a robbery. He was added to the bureau’s Most Wanted List the next day and quickly arrested in Nashville, according to the bureau’s statement.

It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
