Ponipake William Ah’Nee

Ponipake William Ah’Nee was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 12, 1952. He died of heart failure in his sleep on November 10, 2019.
Poni leaves behind his beloved wife, Lorrie; two stepchildren, Kalia and Dawson, whom he loved as his own; his beloved cat Gracie; as well as siblings, Kekoa, Mary Lou, Ok-Hee, Bok Chu; and many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Poni.
After serving as a decorated Marine in Viet Nam, he moved to Alaska where he worked in the fishing industry in Kodiak and later had a long career as a concrete tradesman, and as a medical records office manager in Anchorage.
In 2018 Poni retired to Elizabethton, Tenn., where he fell in love with its natural beauty, its people, and the loving home he created for his family and friends. A man of deep faith and generosity, Poni will truly be missed for his warmth, friendliness, loyalty and genuine Aloha spirit.
There will be a memorial service for Poni at the St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 815 E. 2nd Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643, on Sunday, November 17, from 1 to 3 p.m. Food and fellowship will follow the service.
